Automatic E-Challan at Toll Plazas: Is Your PUC or Insurance Expired?

Your vehicle documents may now be checked automatically!

Planning a highway trip? Before you start your journey, make sure your vehicle’s PUC certificate and insurance are valid.

Starting September 1, 2026, Odisha resumed automatic vehicle document checks through its eDetection system. This technology uses toll plaza data to check vehicle records. If your PUC (Pollution Under Control) certificate or insurance has expired, an e-challan can be generated automatically.

The system is also deployed in other states, but enforcement practices can vary. This is not an announcement that every toll plaza across India has begun issuing these challans.
