RTO transfer of ownership checklist

Transferring vehicle ownership at the RTO involves several forms, fees, and document submissions. Missing even one step can delay the process by weeks.

Seller checklist

• Form 29 — Notice of transfer (2 copies)
• Form 30 — Application for transfer (2 copies)
• Original RC, insurance, and PUC certificate
• Clear any pending challans before initiating transfer

Buyer checklist

• Form 30 signed by both parties
• Address proof and identity proof
• Updated insurance in buyer's name
• Pay transfer fee and road tax (if applicable)

Timeline

Most transfers complete within 14–30 days. Track your application on the Parivahan portal using the application number on your receipt.
