PUC certificate validity and renewal

A valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate is mandatory for every vehicle on Indian roads. Here's what you need to know about validity, renewal, and keeping your certificate handy.

Validity period

For petrol and CNG vehicles, PUC certificates are valid for 1 year when first issued. For diesel vehicles, validity is 6 months from the date of issue.

Where to get tested

Visit any authorised PUC testing centre — look for the official sticker at petrol pumps and certified garages near you. The test takes about 5 minutes and costs ₹60–₹100.

Digital storage in Park Assign

After your test, photograph your PUC certificate and upload it to the Documents section in Park Assign. You'll get an expiry reminder 15 days before renewal is due.

Penalties for expired PUC

Driving without a valid PUC can result in fines up to ₹10,000 under the Motor Vehicles Act. Keep yours current and stored digitally for roadside checks.
